 Rock of Cashel
At the centre of a 50-60 km wide verdant meadow raises the limestone hill that forms the Rock of Cashel. This is a monument over both worldly and spiritual power. In ancient times Cashel was the seat of honour for the High Kings of Munster. In the 5th century Saint Patrick arrived here on his mission to Christianise the Irish. The site is covered with medieval buildings. Saint Patrick's cross, a famous object in the history of Christianity, guards the entrance to the 13th century cathedral which dominates the area. The photos were taken in a hurry, with summoning of all the strength and inspiration that can be obtained when the rain constantly forces you to take cover.
