 A Shadow from the North
This year, as many other years, the Ulster Protestants marched between Drumcree and Portadown in County Armagh, a march through Catholic residential districts. A quarter of a century ago, British paratroopers attacked the Catholic Civil Right Movement in North Ireland. Now the same army is forced, by all means at their disposal, to stop the Protestant extremists who England through the centuries has inflamed to hate the Catholics. England has indeed created a monster they no longer can control. A shadow from the North weighs still heavy on Ireland's fate. A hard rain fell when we crossed the border of County Tipperary.
