 In The Name of Religion
When we left Mitchellstown by road N8 I started to think about Irelands tormented sister Northern Ireland. In these days in July 2000, when we travelled through the Emerald Isle, the yearly Protestant marching season went on in the North. With a madness that transgresses all human borders the Orange Order organizes every year demonstrations in memory of the Protestant William of Orange and his victory at the River Boyne over a Catholic army in 1690. The demonstrations can only have one aim: to provoke new fights between Protestants and Catholics and thus obstruct the peace process. Charity ends where religious fanaticism starts.
