 Cliffs of Moher
We travelled south through the Burren to the Cliffs of Moher. This is an eight-km long, vertical cliff-face - a dramatic bridgehead confronting the Atlantic Sea 's heavy waves. At certain spots the cliffs are 200 m high. The Cliffs of Moher is an extension of the lime stone surface of the Burren. Erosion and treading feet of tourists make it give away and you endanger your life if you challenge the erected fence. We passed an awful, commercial Visitor's Centre and walked to the edge of the abyss. I was struck dumb with the view, all the more as it was one of the brightest days I ever have experienced in Ireland. There was just a little blue haze enhancing the giant structure.
