	Cobh is the harbour of Cork. This harbour is nature's own creation at the mouth of the river Lee. The first Atlantic steamer bound for America left from here in 1838. Many of the great transatlantic liners were berthed in Cobh, for example the unfortunate ships Titanic and Lusitania. Many were the Atlantic steam boats that left the harbour of Cobh in the 19th century, when the potato harvest failed and starvation killed people in large numbers. Tears flowed down many cheeks when thousands of Irish men and women left their relatives behind, in pursuit of survival on the new continent: the US of America.
