The
Ring of Kerry is one of Ireland's most interesting routes. The road winds
all around the Iveragh peninsula. We entered the route at Killorglin.
High mountains rose to the southeast and to the west we saw the sun set
over Dingle Bay. Our minds rested in devotional silence.
We
stayed over night at a B&B in Cahersiveen. We sat in the lounge, warming
up with a cup of hot tea and a slowly burning peat fire. Outside the panorama
window the rainsqualls went back and forth over the bay. This was one
of those rare moments when nothing seems to trouble you. The
next day we continued to Killarney. We drove in and out of the fog, the
abyss on one side and the steep mountain on the other. At times we could
see no more than 30 feet.
