	When we left Belfast we asked Joe: "Do you think the violence will come to an end?" "No," he said and added with sadness: "I don't think so." In 1994 I thought he was proven wrong when the cease-fire was proclaimed and the peace negotiations started. And so in the summer of 1996 the blood ran hot again, and young and old tumbled into the turmoil of hatred and violence once more. Oh Joe, you knew it all to well! But in those days, July 1993, we left a troubled but friendly Belfast and took a coach to Dublin.
