Hatshepsut
disappeared out of history after 20 years of reign. The reason why has sunk
into oblivion. 
Was
it a natural death or was it a coup d'état, an act of conspiracy? Thutmose
III, so unsentimentally put behind the scene, grabbed his long yearned for
position as leader of the country. At once he started to wipe out all traces
of Hatshepsut. Her face and cartouche were carved away from stone walls
and statues.This
act of destruction, did it spring from offended pride, contained for several
years? Thutmose became the greatest conqueror of all pharaohs. He conducted
13 campaigns and conquered Syria. The lust for revenge seems to be the ultimate
motivation. Nothing new under the sun.
