  The Female Pharaoh
When Pharaoh Thutmose II died, his queen and half-sister Hatshepsut co-reigned with the Statue At Hatshepsut's Templeconsiderably younger stepson Thutmose III. Hatshepsut had not given birth to any sons and thus Thutmose III, son of a mistress to her brother/husband, became the one who inherited the title pharaoh. Did you think only "Dallas" harbours such an entangled intrigue?
Hatshepsut was a very strong and resolute woman and soon enough she put aside her nephew and stepson and took over the reign of the country. But she did not rule as a queen but as a pharaoh. She was the first woman ever to attain this position. Hatshepsut succeeded because she had the support of the priests.
