Gold Tooth

The police sergeant Mustafa, who was in command of the Turkish army unit, was called "Gold Tooth" by the UN-soldiers. He became very upset over the youngNetá (Taslica) UN-soldiers' presence, since they were witnesses to the action that took place. The UN-soldiers wrote down the names of all the Greek Cypriots who had been placed on a lorry. But their presence could not prevent the Turkish soldiers from driving away with their captives. At the village square the weeping women and children were left behind. In the aftermath of the invasion all villagers from Netá fled to the South. The villages of Vathýlakkas and Netá are nowadays named Derince and Taslica respectively.
