Pan Handle Here
starts the Karpaz peninsula that is the easternmost part of Cyprus. The peninsula
stretches out as a handle of a frying pan, which has led to its nick name:
"Pan Handle." Karpaz
is sparsely inhabited and is almost free of heavy industry. You may breathe
clean and lovely air. Good conditions for vegetation make exuberant animal
and vegetable life. Here you find turtles such as the species Caretta caretta and
the rare Chelonia mydas. In the villages of Karpaz there's the unshakeable
calmness that is so typical for human settlements in this part of the Mediterranean. |
